Great experience! I was seen at very short notice after my fixed retainer became unstuck, the dentist I saw was very helpful and informative. The receptionist was also very warm and friendly, I would definitely recommend!

Top quality professionals, reasonable prices! Super welcoming and efficient staff with Johanna's kindness making it much nicer! And... top quality doctor! I'm normally a bit nervous when going to the dentist, but Dr. Jack Johnson was incredibly professional, accurate and delicate in his assesment of my situation and his answers, he was also so patient, that I really felt at ease!

Amazing care! First trip to the dentist in a very long time and all the staff were so friendly and welcoming especially the receptionists Jo, Celia & Rosa, the experience was surprisingly enjoyable! The practice is set in a beautiful building and the waiting room is homely and relaxing! My dentist, Dr Patel was very professional and gentle as was my hygienist Ama and a very kind nurse Elena! Would recommend this practice highly!

Fabulous dental practice! I called with tooth pain and was able to book an emergency appointment that morning. I've since had 2 wisdom teeth removed (within the space of a month) and the whole team was extremely kind and accommodating throughout. The receptionists, Rosa and Joanna, were so friendly and definitely helped calm nerves pre- and post-tooth removal. Dr Jack was very comforting when explaining the process and answering any questions I had, and made the whole procedure painless (and extremely swift). As someone with a terrible fear of needles and embarrassingly low pain tolerance, I can confidently say this place worked miracles! Thank you all :)

Everyone is lovely and so understanding. The receptionists (shout out to Jo and Rosa) are friendly and really do their best to put you at ease. They have an option of being shown round and introduced to people before any work which I've never been offered before. Dr Frances is a calming presence and worked hard to put fears and my embarrassment to rest. I have fibromyalgia and issues with jaw pain. They did their best to work around my issues and not trigger ongoing pain. I would definitely recommend them to anyone like me with bad previous experiences which trigger severe anxiety.

Start with a simple dental check-up

If you’re unsure what you need - or it’s been a while since your last visit - a dental check-up is the best place to start.

We’ll assess your teeth, gums and overall oral health, pick up on any early signs of problems, and give you a clear, honest view of your options. No pressure, no unnecessary treatment - just straightforward advice focused on keeping your mouth healthy long-term.

What happens during your dental check-up?

Your check-up is a thorough assessment of your teeth, gums and overall oral health.

We check for early signs of tooth decay, gum disease and other issues that may not yet be causing symptoms - helping you avoid more complex treatment later on.

If needed, we may take x-rays or digital scans, and your appointment may include a professional clean to remove plaque and tartar that regular brushing can miss.

You’ll leave with a clear understanding of your oral health and what, if anything, needs attention.

What we look for during your visit

  • Early signs of tooth decay
  • Gum disease and inflammation
  • Wear, grinding or damage to teeth
  • Existing fillings, crowns or dental work
  • Signs of infection or underlying issues

Why regular check-ups matter

Many dental problems develop without pain or obvious symptoms. By the time something feels wrong, it often requires more involved treatment.

Regular check-ups allow us to catch problems early, keep your teeth and gums healthy, and give you confidence that everything is on track.

Feeling anxious about booking?

If you’ve been putting off the dentist, you’re not alone. Dental anxiety is more common than you might think - and it's something we take seriously at Tavistock Dental. Frequently asked questions at Tavistock Dental London

How often should I visit the dentist for a checkup?

Regular dental checkups are essential for maintaining oral health. At Tavistock Dental, we don’t recommend scheduling a dental checkup every six months. Instead we learn what risk factors and habits you have and will give you a personalised recall period in which to attend for check ups. This is to prevent cavities, gum disease, and other dental issues. So recall periods can range from every three months to every two years. We provide truly personal care!

What is included in a routine dental checkup at Tavistock Dental?

A routine dental checkup at Tavistock Dental includes a comprehensive examination of your teeth, gums, and mouth, and any necessary X-rays. Regular checkups help detect early signs of dental problems and maintain your oral health.

How can I prevent cavities and gum disease?

Preventing cavities and gum disease involves good oral hygiene practices like brushing twice daily, flossing regularly, and visiting Tavistock Dental for routine checkups. Our team provides personalised advice to help you maintain healthy teeth and gums.

What dental services does Tavistock Dental offer?

Tavistock Dental offers a wide range of general dentistry services, including routine checkups, dental fillings, crowns, bridges, and gum disease treatments. We also have specialists on-site to provide advanced dental care when needed.

Do I need professional teeth cleaning if I brush and floss regularly?

Yes, professional teeth cleaning at Tavistock Dental is essential, even if you brush and floss daily. Our hygienists remove plaque and tartar buildup that regular brushing cannot reach, helping prevent cavities and gum disease.
